Performance Improvement of BER in MIMO Systems with SVD-Based Precoding Approach

Interference is the factor which limits the performance in cellular network. Empowered by precoding and decoding, a spatially multiplexed Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system becomes a convenient framework to offer high data rate, diversity and interference management. In this paper, we discuss precoding scheme to mitigate the effect of channel fading in MIMO system where there is no limit in number of antennas at transmitter and receiver. With the knowledge of channel state information (CSI) the transmitted signal is defined such that the channel fading effect is greatly mitigated. This will improve the BER performance of the MIMO system. For our proposed scheme, we use the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) based approach to design the transmitted signal such that it mitigate the effect of channel fading. After simulation, we observe that the BER performance of MIMO system is better than when equalization technique used alone.
